6.14 Carat Emerald Cut Diamond, WES-H, VS-2, HRD Certified

This is a natural emerald cut diamond of 6.14 carat, colour Wesselton H, clarity VS-2, with an HRD certificate. It comes from Royal Coster Diamonds in Amsterdam, the oldest still operating diamond polishing house in the world, founded in 1840.

The cut. The emerald cut is a rectangular step cut with cropped corners. Its long, parallel facets work like a hall of mirrors: instead of sparkle you see broad flashes of light and a clear view into the stone. Because the cut hides very little, clarity matters more here than in a brilliant cut.

Colour. Wesselton H is near colourless. Face up the stone looks white. A slight warmth only shows when it is compared side by side with a higher colour.

Clarity. VS-2 stands for Very Slightly Included. The inclusions are small enough that they can only be found under 10x magnification. To the naked eye the stone is clean.

Certificate. The diamond was graded by HRD, an independent laboratory. The certificate confirms that the diamond is natural and records its weight, colour, clarity and cut.
