1.02 Carat Pear Cut Diamond, Fancy Pink, VS-2, GIA Certified

This is a natural pear cut diamond of 1.02 carat, colour Fancy Pink, clarity VS-2, with a GIA certificate. It comes from Royal Coster Diamonds in Amsterdam, the oldest still operating diamond polishing house in the world, founded in 1840.

The cut. The pear cut is rounded at one end and comes to a point at the other, a combination of the round brilliant and the marquise. The shape is usually worn with the point facing away from the hand, and it is a classic choice for pendants and drop earrings.

Colour. This is a natural fancy coloured diamond. The colour is part of the stone itself and is described on the certificate. In fancy diamonds the colour, not the absence of it, determines the value.

Clarity. VS-2 stands for Very Slightly Included. The inclusions are small enough that they can only be found under 10x magnification. To the naked eye the stone is clean.

Certificate. The diamond was graded by GIA, an independent laboratory. The certificate confirms that the diamond is natural and records its weight, colour, clarity and cut.
