This is a natural radiant cut diamond of 0.72 carat, colour Top Crystal I, clarity VVS-2, with an IGI certificate. It comes from Royal Coster Diamonds in Amsterdam, the oldest still operating diamond polishing house in the world, founded in 1840.
The cut. The radiant cut is rectangular or square with cropped corners. It has the outline of an emerald cut but the facet pattern of a brilliant, so it returns much more sparkle than a step cut. The cropped corners make it less vulnerable than a princess cut.
Colour. Top Crystal I is near colourless. A slight warmth can be seen when the stone is placed next to a whiter diamond.
Clarity. VVS-2 stands for Very Very Slightly Included. The inclusions are so small that even a trained grader has difficulty finding them under 10x magnification.
Certificate. The diamond was graded by IGI, an independent laboratory. The certificate confirms that the diamond is natural and records its weight, colour, clarity and cut.
