0.72 Carat Cushion Cut Diamond, RIV-E, VS-1, GIA Certified

This is a natural cushion cut diamond of 0.72 carat, colour River E, clarity VS-1, with a GIA certificate. It comes from Royal Coster Diamonds in Amsterdam, the oldest still operating diamond polishing house in the world, founded in 1840.

The cut. The cushion cut is square to slightly rectangular with rounded corners, like a cushion seen from above. It is one of the oldest diamond shapes. Its larger facets return the light in broad flashes rather than fine sparkle.

Colour. River E is the top of the colour scale and fully colourless. Set in white gold or platinum, the stone shows no tint.

Clarity. VS-1 stands for Very Slightly Included. The inclusions are small enough that they can only be found under 10x magnification. To the naked eye the stone is clean.

Certificate. The diamond was graded by GIA, an independent laboratory. The certificate confirms that the diamond is natural and records its weight, colour, clarity and cut.
