About Princess Diana
Diana Spencer was born on the 1st
of July in 1961 in Norfolk, England. She got the title Lady Diana in 1975 when her father inherited his Earldom. Diana was one of the most adored members of the British Royal Family. Therefore, her second name was the ‘People’s Princess’. She thanked this name due to the fact that she contributed to a lot of charities. Diana was busy helping homeless and disabled people, as well as children and people with HIV/Aids. She also inspired a lot of people with her great eye for fashion and her personal style. She became a ‘royal rebel’ due to the fact that she stood out for herself and lived her lived the way she wanted it. Some things should be highlighted about the fact that she was different. She chose her own engagement ring from a catalog, she wrote her own vows (she refused to say to ‘obey’), she sent her sons to a public school, she wore whatever she wanted (yes, she wore off-shoulder pieces), and so much more. Diana simply set a new example of how things should be done and that everybody should be free in what they do. Princess Diana wearing an off-shoulder dress in blue. Bron: Pinterest
Proposal of Prince Charles to Diana
Prince Charles proposed to Diana in his home, the Windsor Castle on February 6th
, 1981. Diana was just 20 years old when Prince Charles asked her to marry him, he was 32 at the time, 12 years older than her. They say Charles was still in love with his former girlfriend, Camilla Parker Bowles at the time. Their relationship failed due to the fact that Camilla was not an appropriate match for the future king. Prince Charles was forced into proposing to Diana by his father Prince Philip. Besides that, in the engagement interview, Prince Charles was asked if he was in love and he responded with: “Whatever love means.”

Characteristics of the ring
First of all, a fun fact is that choose her own engagement ring. The engagement ring is an 18 karat white gold ring topped with a 12 karat oval-shaped Ceylon Sapphire surrounded by a halo of 14 solitaire diamonds. The ring was made by the crown jeweler Garrard, it was in the Garrard catalog and didn’t need any customizations, she found it perfect already. The inspiration came from Queen Victoria’s brooch. The ring cost Charles 28.000 pounds at the time (now it is priceless). It is often referred to as the ‘commoner’s ring’ because it wasn’t a custom made ring.

What happened to Prince Charles and Princess Diana
After their marriage in 1981, they got their first son, Prince William on the 21st
of June in 1982. After two years, their second son, Prince Harry was born on the 15th
of September in 1984. Unfortunately, their marriage led to a divorce on the 28th
of August in 1996. She was unhappy in her personal life and had some difficulties with the pressure of her public role. Although they got divorced, Princess Diana was still regarded as a member of the Royal Family and she continued to live in the Kensington Palace. She continued to do work for numerous charities after her divorce. Besides that, Prince Charles and Princess Diana shared custody over their two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry.
Tragically, Diana passed away on the 31st
of August in 1997 at the young age of 36 in the Salpêtrière Hospital in Paris after a car accident. Leaving behind two sons of the ages of 15 and 12 at the time of her death. She sat in the car with her boyfriend, Dodi Al-Fayed, their driver, Henri Paul, and their bodyguard, Trevor Rees-Jones. Trevor was the only one who survived the accident. The accident was caused due to the fact that the driver had drunk too much alcohol and lost control over the vehicle when he tried to escape the pursuing paparazzi at a high speed. The tragedy took place in a tunnel near Pont de L’Alma in Paris. There are a lot of conspiracy theories about her death, yet none of them have been proven. Who wears the ring now?
At first, Prince Harry inherited the sapphire engagement ring and Prince William inherited the Cartier watch, Diana got for her 21st
birthday. I see you thinking, didn’t Prince William propose to Kat with the sapphire engagement ring? Yes, he did. Prince Harry gave up his mother’s ring to Prince William so that he could propose to Kate. Isn’t that sweet? Kate had the ring resized because she had lost weight right before the wedding, they resized the ring by placing small platinum beads inside the ring’s band.
