1.02 Carat Radiant Cut Diamond, CRY-J, VS-2, HRD Certified

This is a natural radiant cut diamond of 1.02 carat, colour Crystal J, clarity VS-2, with an HRD certificate. It comes from Royal Coster Diamonds in Amsterdam, the oldest still operating diamond polishing house in the world, founded in 1840.

The cut. The radiant cut is rectangular or square with cropped corners. It has the outline of an emerald cut but the facet pattern of a brilliant, so it returns much more sparkle than a step cut. The cropped corners make it less vulnerable than a princess cut.

Colour. Crystal J is near colourless, at the lower end of that range. The stone has a slight warmth that can be visible in a white setting. In yellow or rose gold that warmth blends in with the metal.

Clarity. VS-2 stands for Very Slightly Included. The inclusions are small enough that they can only be found under 10x magnification. To the naked eye the stone is clean.

Certificate. The diamond was graded by HRD, an independent laboratory. The certificate confirms that the diamond is natural and records its weight, colour, clarity and cut.
