1.00 Carat Cushion Cut Diamond, TCR-I, VVS-1, GIA Certified

This is a natural cushion cut diamond of 1.00 carat, colour Top Crystal I, clarity VVS-1, with a GIA certificate. It comes from Royal Coster Diamonds in Amsterdam, the oldest still operating diamond polishing house in the world, founded in 1840.

The cut. The cushion cut is square to slightly rectangular with rounded corners, like a cushion seen from above. It is one of the oldest diamond shapes. Its larger facets return the light in broad flashes rather than fine sparkle.

Colour. Top Crystal I is near colourless. A slight warmth can be seen when the stone is placed next to a whiter diamond.

Clarity. VVS-1 stands for Very Very Slightly Included. The inclusions are so small that even a trained grader has difficulty finding them under 10x magnification.

Certificate. The diamond was graded by GIA, an independent laboratory. The certificate confirms that the diamond is natural and records its weight, colour, clarity and cut.
