0.80 Carat Radiant Cut Diamond, Fancy Yellow, VVS-2, GIA Certified

This is a natural radiant cut diamond of 0.80 carat, colour Fancy Yellow, clarity VVS-2, with a GIA certificate. It comes from Royal Coster Diamonds in Amsterdam, the oldest still operating diamond polishing house in the world, founded in 1840.

The cut. The radiant cut is rectangular or square with cropped corners. It has the outline of an emerald cut but the facet pattern of a brilliant, so it returns much more sparkle than a step cut. The cropped corners make it less vulnerable than a princess cut.

Colour. This is a natural fancy coloured diamond. The colour is part of the stone itself and is described on the certificate. In fancy diamonds the colour, not the absence of it, determines the value.

Clarity. VVS-2 stands for Very Very Slightly Included. The inclusions are so small that even a trained grader has difficulty finding them under 10x magnification.

Certificate. The diamond was graded by GIA, an independent laboratory. The certificate confirms that the diamond is natural and records its weight, colour, clarity and cut.
