0.40 Carat Brilliant Cut Diamond, WES-H, SI-2, HRD Certified

This is a natural round brilliant cut diamond of 0.40 carat, colour Wesselton H, clarity SI-2, with an HRD certificate. It comes from Royal Coster Diamonds in Amsterdam, the oldest still operating diamond polishing house in the world, founded in 1840.

The cut. A round brilliant has 57 facets: 33 on the crown and 24 on the pavilion. The proportions of this cut were worked out mathematically in 1919, with one goal: light that enters through the top should be reflected inside the stone and leave through the top again. That is why a well cut brilliant looks bright across its whole surface.

Colour. Wesselton H is near colourless. Face up the stone looks white. A slight warmth only shows when it is compared side by side with a higher colour.

Clarity. SI-2 stands for Slightly Included. The inclusions are visible under 10x magnification. Our diamond specialists can tell you where they are located in this stone.

Certificate. The diamond was graded by HRD, an independent laboratory. The certificate confirms that the diamond is natural and records its weight, colour, clarity and cut.
