Karaatgewicht is een meeteenheid voor het gewicht van een diamant, waarbij 1 karaat = 0,2 gram. Er kunnen ook punten worden gebruikt waarbij 1 karaat = 100 punten. Omdat grotere diamanten zeldzamer zijn, hebben ze over het algemeen een hogere prijs per karaat.
