King’s Night: the evening of April 26
Why not start the party early? The night before King’s Day, you can go to practically every bar, disco or club. Anywhere you go, you’ll find a King’s Night party. While King’s Day is, for the most part, massive festivals, King’s Night is mainly for the Amsterdam residents. But then again: have you really discovered a city without partying with the locals? I didn’t think so either. Besides the pubs, bars, and clubs, you can also visit one of the following festivities:
King’s Night Wine Tasting
Unlike your regular wine tasting sessions, wine tasting at The Library (Keizersgracht 335, Amsterdam) isn’t stiff at all. No ticket sales, no fuzz, just great wines, nice beers, good party music and fun people. There will be food specials, so you won’t go hungry! You can join the party from 15:00 until 01:00 hour.
King’s Night Dinner ‘de la Noublesse’
Vive la Roi! Restaurant The French Connection (Singel 460, Amsterdam) hosts a special King’s Night Dinner for the real foodies among us. From 23:00 – 03:00, you can sit down at this cozy restaurant for a Royal 5 course dinner. The French Connection is situated in the basement of the monumental ‘Odeon’ building. They’re known for their enormous passion for food, drinks and hospitality. The dinner gets prepared by Chef Jef van Hout, formerly part of Michelin-restaurant Bord’Eau.
King’s Night at the Tap
In one of Amsterdam's most lovely neighborhoods, you can find Café Tapmarin (Van Woustraat 130A). The café is in the urban hotspot
The Pijp. If you want to enjoy a cold beer and some bar dancing, this is the place for you. Drink, dance and party with the locals until the early morning. Experience the well-known Dutch ‘gezelligheid’.
King’s Day: all day on April 27
From the morning until noon, Amsterdam transforms into the biggest flea market you’ve ever seen. Unless you came to the Netherlands to buy second-hand items, this is probably not your game. Most people, however, come to Amsterdam to celebrate King’s Day with a spectacular party. The three most well-known are Loveland, Oranjebloesem and Kingsland Festival.
Loveland

Loveland is a music festival in green surroundings. From 11:00 until 20:00 hours, you can relax at the Meerpark in Amsterdam East. The B2B line-up guarantees some fresh hits.
Oranjebloesem
Oranjebloesem literally means ‘orange blossom’. This bohemian music festival attracts people from all over the Netherlands and abroad. The location is perfect for this type of festival: the Amsterdam beach at IJburg, the Amsterdam Island. You can enjoy the funky and mellow tunes from 12:00 until 20:00 hours.
Kingsland Festival

Kingsland is the biggest King’s Day Music event in the Netherlands. It features the music genres the Netherlands is so famous for: dance, electro, urban & hardstyle. Over the years, it has become so big, that they now have multiple locations. Kingsland Amsterdam is held in the Amsterdam RAI from 12:00 until 20:00 hours.
Spend King’s Day in a different way
How you want to spend King’s Day in the Netherlands, is completely up to you. Royal Coster Diamonds is opened as usual, but many attractions are closed or have different opening hours on April 27. It might be difficult to organize something in Amsterdam during this national holiday. Not a fan of orange parties, but want to be treated like a royal instead? Discover our
