If you’ve ever been to Amsterdam, you know the city – and the whole country for that matter – is known for its art and craftsmanship.
Open air theater at Vondelpark

At the Vondelpark, the most famous park in Amsterdam, there are always many things to do. Until September 10th, you can enjoy many acts every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Depending on the days, there are festivals, dances, cabaret, children’s theater, stand-up comedy and all genres of music. All these shows are free of entrance. Just bring a blanket to sit on and enjoy!
ARTzuid at Museum Square

Of course, the museum district of Amsterdam can’t stay behind when we talk about culture and arts! Artzuid is an event where contemporary sculptures from all over the world are on display on the Museum Square. This is the same square on which Royal Coster Diamonds is located. The inspiration for this year’s Artzuid is the national theme of 2017: “Mondrian to Dutch Design – 100 years of De Stijl”. You can take various guided tours in English and Dutch. Of course, you can also wander the streets by yourself and check out the sculptures for free. The exposition lasts until September 17
th.
Exhibitions at the Rijksmuseum

Anyone who went to Amsterdam will tell you about the Rijksmuseum. It’s the biggest museum in the Netherlands, located at the Museum Square. From June 17
th until September 17
th there are various temporary exhibitions for you to enjoy besides the regular collections. There are, for example, a photographic exhibition that celebrates the sea and a collection of rare religious artifacts.

The Amsterdam Gay Pride

This famous event is organized in many countries, but the Pride Amsterdam remains one of the biggest and best celebrations of gay pride around the globe. The huge celebration towards equality for the gay, lesbian, transgender and intersex communities is from July 29
th until August 6
th.Within this event, there are many activities and sub-events such as the famous Canal Parade and the Drag Queen Olympics. Whoever you are, you are welcome to enjoy these events
Festivals

During the warm summer nights, you can relax at the local bars with a cocktail, watch a movie or dance to the best beats. So whatever festival you like, there’s always one for you:

Appelsap Fresh Music Festival, August 12th
Represents everything that is fresh: fresh air with a refreshing drink, the freshest hip-hop and electro acts and a lot of fresh DJ’s!

Canal Festival, August 11th until 20th
One of the cultural highlights of the Amsterdam summer. The historical belt of Amsterdam, a UNESCO World Heritage, hosts a 10-day festival of classical music at multiple locations. Of course, this music is best enjoyed while floating on the water in your own boat.

Outdoor cinema in Amsterdam “Seize the Night”, August 16th until 26th
A free open-air festival close to Amsterdam Central Station with movies that aren’t released yet. All movie genres are represented, from horror to chick-flicks, and are screened in English or subtitled.
