1. Eating and drinking

Who doesn’t like to explore the local kitchen while abroad? Though the Netherlands isn’t exactly famous for its cuisine, there are some eateries at Leidseplein that are considered typical Dutch. Not in the mood for a restaurant yet? Visit one of the many cafes at the Leidseplein. While you enjoy a local brew, try some Dutch snacks, such as
bitterballen and other typical Dutch dishes.
2. Absorbing culture

Whether you’re a fan of exploring cultures or just enjoy a museum every now and then, you probably like the Leidseplein. As you may know, Amsterdam has a very rich and long history. Therefore, you can find plenty of museums here. Museums not really your cup of tea? Visit one of the movie houses or theatres. The
Stadsschouwburg (performing arts theatre) offers many classical and experimental plays but is also a beautiful Neo-Renaissance building to see.
3. Shopping

Leidseplein is a trendy, not too expensive, shopping area. It’s the part of the city where many local young people buy their clothes. However, you’ll see there is a variety of large international chains, small local fashion stores, and gadget stores. Between the Leidseplein and Royal Coster is the area with more luxurious products. The
PC Hooftstraat is THE street to see and be seen. Strolling down the street, you can often see a celebrity or two shopping here.
4. Partying

With this many bars, it’s no surprise after midnight the Leidseplein is called the “entertainment area”. For a memorable time, visit this buzzing square at night. Many world-famous artists perform at big concert halls such as
Paradiso and the
Melkweg. The many intimate dance bars and night clubs such as
Jimmy Woo are the stages for many upcoming DJ’s.
5. Staying in Amsterdam

As you can see, there’s so much to do at and around Leidseplein. Because of its central location, it’s also the perfect base to discover the rest of Amsterdam. Luckily, there are also many good hotels here. Let’s be honest: nothing beats not having to travel back to the hotel for 30 minutes after a long day. Have a comfortable holiday and stay in the city center.
