Easter jewelry: For your sparkling spring

Why do we celebrate Easter with eggs?

For as long as we can remember, we celebrate Easter with eggs. That’s because the egg is an ancient symbol for new life, fertility and rebirth. Even during pagan festivals that celebrate spring, the egg symbolizes something similar. From a Christian perspective, the Easter eggs represent Jesus’ emergence from the tomb and resurrection. But actually many religions and cultures have special celebrations that combine Easter and eggs.

So what about the Easter Bunny?

Besides eggs, another famous symbol of Easter is of course the Easter Bunny. But a bunny doesn’t lay eggs. So what’s the deal with that? Usually, rabbits have a lot of babies (kittens), so they also became a symbol of new life. The first Easter Bunny legend stems already from the 1500s. More than 100 years later, around 1680, a story was published about a rabbit that laid eggs. The bunny decorated the eggs and hid them in a garden. When German immigrants settled in Pennsylvania Dutch country, they brought the story to the United States around 1700. In the United States, this became a big hit that spread across the world over centuries.

Celebrate Easter your way with Easter Jewelry

Fortunately, there are still countless ways to celebrate Easter. Even if you are confined to your home because of the current situation. Whether you celebrate Easter with eggs, with bunnies or something completely different, that’s all up to you. We associate Easter with spring. Flowers start to bloom, young animals are being born and suddenly we see bees and butterflies in our gardens. That’s why we love to celebrate Easter with diamond jewelry that reminds us of spring. This year, we have a special collection of Fabergé Egg Pendants that embody Easter as well.
